What is Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)?

It is a hands-on techniques used by osteopathic physicians (DOs) to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. OMT uses the relationship between the neuromusculoskeletal system and the rest of the body to restore functionality or remove barriers to motion and healing. The physician will move a patient’s muscles and joints using techniques that include stretching, gentle pressure and resistance. OMT can by used as a non-invasive treatment option to treat multiple ailments headaches, back/neck/shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, ear infections and more.

Do you take health insurance?

We do not participate in an insurance contract nor bill for services. Patients who receive health care insurance coverage, either through employers or individual insurance plans, can still receive primary care in a DPC practice.

I already have health insurance. Why would I pay?

Insured patients can typically receive reimbursement from insurance carriers for care received in a DPC practice via the claims process. The process typically requires the patient to submit an itemized bill for review and approval by the insurance carrier. It is important to have some sort of coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, long-term care, specialists, and unexpected illnesses. Many DPC patients opt for a higher deductible plan with an HSA to save for emergencies and since DPC does not charge your deductible, this can save patients hundreds to thousands of dollars in medical bills each year.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for services?

Currently (Washington State health care) laws state that HSA dollars cannot be used for your membership fee, but can be used for all other medical care you receive including physical therapy, labs, radiology, hospital care, , specialty visits, etc.  FSA’s may be used depending on the employer’s FSA criteria, so check directly with your employer or plan administrator. The laws may change in the future, so keep your eyes peeled if this applies to you.

What happens if I get admitted to the hospital or see a specialist?

The cost of anything that happens outside of The Space would be your or your insurance carriers’ responsibility.  This includes, but is not limited to, hospital and emergency/urgent care, the care provided by other doctors and specialists, radiology, labs, and pathology. However, you are encouraged to have the hospital care team schedule follow-up visits at The Space to monitor recovery and continue your medical care needed.

What about Medicare?

Because Medicare does not acknowledge or pay for many of the unique and helpful services offered, which are inspired by our community’s needs, the best way for The Space to provide the same level of care to patients with Medicare is to not bill Medicare. If you are enrolled with Medicare, you will be asked to sign a form at or before your first visit that shows you understand that we will not bill Medicare for any of the services and that you agree to not bill Medicare for any of my services.  However, your Medicare may still be billed for any and all services outside our direct care, including but not limited to labs, radiology, specialist visits, and hospital care.

What if I want to cancel my membership?

To cancel your membership, give notice in writing at least 3 business days before your next month’s fee is due. We do not prorate any monthly fees.
